FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Fresno police are investigating after they say a 72-year-old man shot and killed his 39-year-old son during a family disturbance.

The Fresno Bee reports (https://bit.ly/1FuZmTs ) that police were called Sunday afternoon after shots were fired at a home in northwest Fresno.

Sgt. Greg Noll says when officers arrived at the scene the 72-year-old man came out to the front gate with his hands up and admitted involvement. The man has been detained. The son was pronounced dead by multiple gunshot wounds after being transported by ambulance to Community Regional Medical Center.

Noll says the motive of the shooting is unknown. The suspect does not speak English and police have called for an interpreter.
