Los Angeles police officers fatally shoot woman armed with knife

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police have shot and killed a woman they said was armed with a knife.

Sgt. Frank Preciado said two officers responded Sunday morning to reports of an unruly woman with a knife in an area south of downtown.

He told the Los Angeles Times (https://lat.ms/1joeyro) the officers confronted the woman, who was armed with a knife with an 8-inch blade, and at some point the officers fired their weapons.

The woman, who was about 30 years old, was taken to a hospital, where she later died.

The officers were not injured.

Police said the officers were wearing body cameras and the video from those cameras will be examined as part of the investigation into the shooting.
