FAIRPLAY, Colo. (AP) - The Park County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man investigators say shot his neighbor near Alma before turning the gun on himself.

Authorities say 61-year-old Philip Houghton told deputies his neighbor, 73-year-old Sam Adams, shot him Saturday afternoon and ran into the woods. Houghton is in critical but stable condition.

An officer said he saw a man wearing camouflage run into the woods and he was discovered a few minutes later with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Adams died on the way to the hospital.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the neighbors.
