MEXICO CITY (AP) - Mexican investigators say they have found 14 pounds (6.35 kilograms) of heroin in a hidden container aboard a passenger bus.

Experts say Mexico’s passenger bus lines have become a preferred method for smuggling heroin into the United States.

The federal Attorney General’s Office said Monday that the bus had started its run in Mexico City and was headed for the border city of Nuevo Laredo, across from Laredo, Texas.

The bus was stopped for a search in the northern-central state of Queretaro and the heroin was found in a metal container disguised to look like a spare part. The container was covered in grease and heroin wrapped in plastic was stuffed inside.
