ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - About $630,000 in new grant money is available from the state to help Hudson Valley communities deal with extreme weather.

The Department of Environmental Conservation is accepting applications for projects that help communities in the Hudson estuary watershed replace culverts and bridges and remove dams to reduce flood damage, protect water quality and improve wildlife habitat.

To be eligible, projects must conserve and restore aquatic habitat connectivity for species of greatest conservation need, as identified by DEC.
