WAYNESBORO, Ga. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of a man whose body was found near railroad tracks in eastern Georgia.

Multiple media outlets report that a hunter found the body of a middle-aged white male Friday evening about 30 feet from a set of railroad tracks in Burke County.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office says it is receiving assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in the case.

A GBI representative says the body had been in the wooded area for at least a couple of days. Authorities say they do not yet know the identity of the man.

The body was sent to Atlanta for an autopsy over the weekend.
