CONNELLSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - An 82-year-old Pennsylvania man has been offered a plea bargain on charges he molested and tried to rape a 21-year-old health care aide who was trying to help him shower at home.

John Owade waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday and will receive only probation if he agrees to plead guilty to indecent assault in Fayette County Common Pleas Court.

Prosecutors are willing to drop an attempted rape charge because of the Dunbar Township man’s age, physical ability - and because the alleged victim is consenting.

The aide told police that John Owade greeted her July 1 by saying, “Do you want to play a game?” while wearing only an unfastened robe. The aide says Owade later grabbed her wrists and forced himself on her before she ran away.
