TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say two people are dead following a Tampa Bay area crash.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office reports in a news release that 25-year-old Kurtis Jackson was trying to pass a slower vehicle Thursday night when he quickly swerved back into his own lane to avoid an oncoming motorcycle. Jacksonville reportedly lost control and crashed into an oncoming SUV.

Both vehicles overturned. Officials say Jackson and his passenger, 28-year-old Adriana Alarco, died at the scene. The SUV’s driver was hospitalized with injuries that weren’t considered life-threatening.

Detectives were trying to determine if speed or alcohol led to the crash.
