ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Eager skiers can squeeze in a few more days on the slopes this year as Aspen Skiing Co. is extending the ski season by two weekends at Aspen Highlands.
The Aspen Times reports (https://bit.ly/1UHDD0J ) that Skico officials announced Thursday that Highlands will close daily operations as scheduled on April 10, but the slopes will reopen Saturday and Sunday, April 23 and 24, and Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1.
Other Skico areas will close as planned. Buttermilk will close Sunday. Snowmass will close April 10 and Aspen Mountain will close April 17.
Skico Vice President of Mountain Operations Rich Burkley says Highlands has a base of more than 90 inches, which should be able to keep most terrain open for the extra weekends.
