OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A bill that would change the legal requirements for the heads of two separate state agencies is pending in the Oklahoma House.
The Senate already passed the bill that alters the qualification requirements for the directors of both the Office of Juvenile Affairs and the Department of Corrections to remove a requirement that the director have experience in the juvenile justice or corrections fields.
The Department of Corrections is currently being led by interim Director Joe Allbaugh, the owner of a consulting business and former director of a federal agency. The governing board of OJA has offered its post to Steven Buck, former deputy commissioner of the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.
