PORTLAND, Maine (AP) - Sen. Angus King is praising craft brewers for their passion, telling them that “small breweries are winning and the big guys are noticing.”
King and Rep. Chellie Pingree of Maine were among speakers Friday at the inaugural New England Craft Beer Summit at the University of Southern Maine.
More than 400 people from 13 states attended.
Much of the session focused on maintaining quality. Dick Cantwell, formerly of Elysian Brewing Co., said the industry must strive for the highest standards. He said that the craft beer industry “is only as strong as the worst beer we serve.”
