BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A woman is seeking nearly $1 million in damages from a Montana county, alleging the man the county hired to accompany her back to a federal prison in Florida gave her drugs and raped her.

The Billings Gazette reports the woman filed her lawsuit in October. Yellowstone County denied her claims and in February sued Walter John Cassidy and U.S. Prison Extradition Service alleging fraud and negligent misrepresentation.

The woman’s lawsuit alleges Cassidy drugged and raped her in November 2012 after she testified at a trial in Billings. Federal prosecutors said Cassidy did the same to several female prisoners he transported and used a false name to conceal his criminal history.

The Florence, Indiana man was sentenced last May to 12 years in federal prison for defrauding law enforcement agencies that hired him to transport prisoners.
