MARION, N.C. (AP) - The N.C. Highway Patrol has identified the three people killed in a fiery wreck on U.S. 221 near Marion last week.

Trooper Kelly Rhodes identified the three to local media outlets as 61-year-old Terry Dixon of Purlear in Wilkes County and 44-year-old Lori Tindel of Greenville, South Carolina. Rhodes said the two were in a pickup truck that crossed the center line on March 24 and hit a van driven by 48-year-old Robert Gragg of Newland.

Rhodes authorities had to use dental records to make positive identification of the remains because of the extent of the intensity of the fire. He said investigators don’t know what caused the pickup to cross the center line, adding that there was no braking before impact.
