JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A law enforcement officer was injured in a crash while responding to a priority call.

Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office spokesman Christian Hancock told local media that a pick-up truck traveled into an intersection Thursday evening and struck the officer’s cruiser, which had its lights activated. The collision forced the truck into a third vehicle in the intersection.

Crews from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department took the officer and the truck driver to the hospital.

Hancock says the officer’s injuries were considered serious. The driver of the third vehicle wasn’t injured.

Authorities are investigating.
