LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A judge has issued an order barring school bus drivers in Las Cruces from striking.

The school system says the temporary restraining order granted Thursday at the district’s request means buses will operate pending a future hearing.

That hearing will be for the judge to consider whether to issue a preliminary injunction.

The drivers work for a private company that provides bus service for the school system.

A union representing drivers says negotiations reached an impasse Wednesday.
