BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - State Rep. Marvin Nelson has been formally nominated as the Democratic candidate for North Dakota governor.

KXMB television reports that the state Democratic-NPL Convention is continuing Friday at the Bismarck Civic Center. Some 500 delegates were expected to attend.

Nelson has chosen New Rockford Sen. Joan Heckaman as his running mate.

The convention continues Saturday with nominations for statewide office.

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York is scheduled to give the convention’s keynote speech on Saturday.
