TAPPAN, N.Y. (AP) - A June festival will honor the memory of two beloved figures from the New York-New Jersey music scene.
Organizer Joe D’Urso (DUHR’-soh) said Friday that the Rockland-Bergen Music Festival in Tappan (tuh-PAN’), New York is naming one of its stages for Louis DeMartino (dee-mahr-TEE’-noh) and Stefan Connolly.
DeMartino, a bass player known as “Mister Lou,” died from asthma in July 2015. The Millburn, New Jersey resident was 56.
Connolly was a bartender at the Turning Point club in Piermont, New York, a restaurateur and a music supporter. The 40-year-old Warwick, New York resident died in a May 2015 road crash.
D’Urso said the men were “kindred spirits” who “treated everyone they met with genuineness and warmth.”
The annual festival also promotes charities including WhyHunger and the Light of Day Foundation.
