VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) - Vancouver police say a pedestrian has died after being seriously injured Thursday night when he was hit by a car. Authorities have not identified the 29-year-old but they have said he was an off-duty Vancouver firefighter.
The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The Columbian newspaper reports (https://is.gd/WpdK6A ) police said alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash. The man died after being taken to the hospital.
Police officers were nearly injured themselves during a separate crash while they were investigating the crash. While they were assisting with traffic control during the investigation of the first crash, an un-involved vehicle nearly struck one of the officers.
That vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of intoxicants.
