SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. (AP) - Sandy Springs police are working to identify vandals who trashed a 200-year-old North Fulton cemetery and left evidence behind.

Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Ron Momon tells local media that a maintenance worker at the Dunwoody Pointe Apartments discovered the damage March 23 while checking on the Power Family Cemetery, which sits on the back end of the apartment complex.

A police report says headstones were knocked over and a coffin was left exposed.

Momon says police hope to recover fingerprints from the shovels and empty potato chip bag left at the scene.

Marie Power Frazier, granddaughter of the cemetery’s founder, says this isn’t the first time the cemetery has been vandalized.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sandy Springs Police or Atlanta Crimestoppers. Crimestoppers tipsters may be eligible for a reward.
