SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - South Dakota farmers intend to plant more corn this year, along with another large soybean crop.

The Agriculture Department says in its prospective plantings report that South Dakota corn acres are projected at 5.7 million, up 6 percent from 2015.

Soybean acres are estimated at 5 million. That’s down 3 percent, but from record crops of 5.15 million acres in both 2014 and 2015.

The report shows that South Dakota’s hay, wheat, sunflower, oat, sorghum and flaxseed crops all are expected to be down this year.
