SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Police say a Syracuse high school student punched two teachers after he was asked to stop using his cellphone during class.

The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (https://bit.ly/1RQ16c8 ) the 16-year-old student came late to Henninger High School just after 8 a.m. Wednesday and then used his cellphone during class.

Police say a 37-year-old teacher asked him to stop using his phone but he punched her in the mouth and then punched a 57-year-old assistant teacher who tried to intervene.

The boy was charged with two counts of assault.

Both teachers complained of severe pain in their mouth and jaws from the incident.
