OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Members of Utah’s Congressional delegation are calling on the government to do more to help veterans living north of Salt Lake City.

The Standard-Examiner reports (https://bit.ly/1Ru1K07 ) that U.S. Senators Orrin Hatch and Mike Lee joined Rep. Rob Bishop in asking for a permanent Vet Center somewhere in northern Utah.

In a letter to Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert McDonald, the Republican lawmakers say they want a center focusing on Weber, Davis, Morgan and Box Elder counties, where about 40,000 veterans live.

Vet Centers provide counseling for veteran-specific issues as well as treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, drug and alcohol assessment and suicide prevention.

Utah currently has such centers in Salt Lake City, Provo and St. George.
