SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Utah lawmaker says he’s open to changing his bill that would give grandparents visiting rights for grandchildren adopted by other families after the governor vetoed the measure.

The bill from Republican Rep. LaVar Christensen of Draper would allow grandparents to get a court order allowing them to visit their grandchildren if the child’s parents have lost custody.

Gov. Gary Herbert vetoed the bill this week, saying he’s sympathetic to grandparents but worried the law would undercut the rights of adoptive parents.

Herbert says he’s willing to call a special session if are limits on when and how often grandparents may seek court orders.

Christensen told the Deseret News (https://bit.ly/1RCmcbV) that he’s happy to address the governor’s concerns.
