DRAPER, Utah (AP) - A 3-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car in Draper.

Authorities say the child succumbed to his injuries Saturday night after being airlifted to the hospital.

According to police, the boy and his family were visiting other relatives in Draper after attending a baptism.

The family was walking toward their car when the boy ran into the road and was hit by an SUV.

Police spokesman Chad Carpenter says the boy was rushed to the hospital with severe head trauma.

Carpenter did not release the boy’s name.

Authorities did not file any charges against the 49-year-old woman driving the SUV.

Carpenter says it appears to be nothing but a tragic accident and that the driver could not have stopped in time.
