LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - A Las Cruces family, including two young children, is dead after a fiery two-vehicle crash.
New Mexico State Police say the collision happened at 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 25 in Las Cruces.
According to investigators, a Hyundai sedan stopped in the left lane.
A Ford sedan traveling in the same lane struck the Hyundai.
Police say the impact ruptured the fuel tank in the Hyundai and ignited a fire.
The Hyundai driver, 28-year-old Antoinette Harwood, and 19-year-old Corine Banda were pronounced dead at the scene.
Harwood’s children, 2-year-old Adrian Banda and 1-month-old Layahna Banda, died at a hospital.
The other driver, 18-year-old Noa Siamu of Las Cruces, is hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities did not say if speed or impairment were factors.
The crash remains under investigation.
