GALVESTON, Texas (AP) - A 39-year-old Galveston man has been indicted on a murder charge after a 76-year-old man who had been beaten with a hammer later died.
Mario Cisneros remained in Galveston County Jail on Sunday on $150,000 bond. He was indicted last month on the murder charge. Jail records did not list an attorney for him.
The Galveston County Daily News (https://bit.ly/1VfyInY ) reports that police called to a residence on Dec. 19 found Maudel Jones Jr. covered in blood. Police reports say he told officers his roommate had struck him.
According to the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office, Jones died at a hospital on Jan. 6 from blunt force trauma to his head. After Jones’ death, the case became a homicide investigation.
