MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A nearly 400-year-old collection of William Shakespeare’s plays will be on display this fall in Madison.

The State Journal reports (https://bit.ly/1TKkuKk ) the “First Folio” is scheduled to arrive in November at the Chazen Museum of Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The printed collection of Shakespeare’s plays dates back to 1623. The folio comes from the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. It’s touring the country this year to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death.



Ron Parker is an Appleton high school teacher and the founder and director of Wisconsin’s Summer Shakespeare Theatre. Parker says the book was printed by two of Shakespeare’s friends seven years after he died.

Its only stop in Wisconsin, the book will be on display in Madison for nearly six weeks.
