MODESTO, Calif. (AP) - Modesto police say officers shot and killed a man who led them on a chase following an alleged domestic dispute.

Modesto Police spokeswoman Heather Graves says officers responded Sunday to a call from a woman about a man who was her door with a gun.

Graves says that when they arrived at the address on Lance Street they saw the suspect fleeing in a car and gave chase. The pursuit ended back on Lance Street, where the man got out of the car and shots were fired.

The unidentified man was taken to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

Graves says a gun was recovered at the scene but whether the man fired at the officers hasn’t been determined.

She says the three officers involved were uninjured and have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.
