NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Newark police are investigating a pit bull attack that left a 51-year-old woman injured.

Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose says the Saturday attack left the woman with a bite and a possible broken arm.

She was taken to University Hospital Saturday night.

The Humane Society took the dog into custody. Ambrose says the dog belongs to a neighbor of the victim and has its required shots and paperwork.

No charges had been filed as of late Saturday night. An investigation is continuing.
