WACO, Texas (AP) - Authorities say a 70-year-old Central Texas rancher was trampled to death by a cow he was apparently trying to load into a trailer to take to a veterinarian.
McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara tells the Waco Tribune-Herald (https://bit.ly/1RZbufM ) that Eddie Curtis was trampled by the cow in a loading chute Friday in a community northeast of Waco. Curtis’ son found him and called authorities. Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene.
McNamara said he didn’t know if the cow attacked the man or the incident was accidental.
He says, “It’s just a reminder of how dangerous large animals can be.”
McNamara said he did not know whether the family had decided on what to do with the cow.
