OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Health officials have issued toxic algae warnings for two Thurston County Lakes.

They recommend people keep their children and pets out of Long Lake and Pattison Lake until another test shows the lakes are clear. Fishing in the lakes is also not recommended.

The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/YpKJka ) Thurston County health officials found unsafe levels of anatoxin in the lakes. The toxic algae can affect the nervous system.

The lakes will be monitored weekly until algae levels are at or below the state standard.
