VICKSBURG, Miss. (AP) - Warren County will try a third time to find someone to overhaul its Kings Point Ferry.
The Vicksburg Post (https://bit.ly/25Rtm5r) reports that supervisors rejected the only bid to repair and paint the ferry because the bid was unsigned. An earlier bid of $486,075 in June was also rejected.
The ferry provides the only access to an island that was cut off from the mainland when the Yazoo Diversion Canal was built in 1903. Kings Point is mostly hunting camps and timberland, but the ferry sails 12 hours each day to carry passengers across the canal.
Supervisor Richard George says the board will seek another round of bids. The board has $252,000 to spend on the money, including $216,900 in state and federal money.
