CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run of a cyclist in Casa Grande.

Police said Sunday that 40-year-old Christina Rascon, of Casa Grande, has been booked for manslaughter, leaving the scene of a fatal collision and DUI.

According to investigators, the incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday.

Twenty-year-old Emily Akins was riding a bicycle when she was struck.

She was transported to the hospital with severe injuries and later died.

Witness statements led police to Rascon’s home.

They located her nearby and detained her.

Police say they found her vehicle, which had front end damage consistent with a collision.

Authorities say she had signs of alcohol impairment.

It was not immediately known if Rascon had an attorney.
