RHINELANDER, Wis. (AP) - The body of a missing kayaker has been recovered from a lake in Oneida County.
Sheriff’s officials got a call about 3 a.m. Sunday from someone who heard cries for help coming from the Wisconsin River in the Town of Pine Lake.
WJFW-TV (https://bit.ly/1SJmcGQ ) reports two kayakers had fallen in the water. One of the two, a 23-year-old Rhinelander man, was able to get out of the river and was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.
Authorities say the body of a second kayaker, 25-year-old Kyle Holquist, of Rhinelander, was found in the backwaters of Boom Lake on the Wisconsin River about 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
Oneida County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dan Hess says alcohol may have played a role in the incident.
