BEAVER, Utah (AP) - Authorities say they have arrested a man suspected of shooting and killing his girlfriend in the Beaver home they shared together.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1SrwWt9 ) that Beaver County sheriff’s deputies found 37-year-old Desiree Shotwell shot to death on Saturday. Her boyfriend, 42-year-old Corey Fordham, was found lying on the ground next to her.

Sheriff Cameron Noel says Fordham had been intoxicated and that the shooting may have been the result of an attempted murder-suicide.

The sheriff’s office had responded to the home after a friend reported that Fordham had told him about the shooting.

The victim was the owner of a gem shop in Beaver called Love the Art.

The shooting remains under investigation.
