ORION TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 22-year-old Detroit man is accused of using counterfeit money to purchase items advertised on Craigslist.

The Oakland County sheriff’s department says Anthony Lamar Henderson is charged with uttering and publishing counterfeit bank bills, a felony, and larceny by false pretense, a misdemeanor.

A judge set bond Friday at $50,000 and he was held in the Oakland County Jail. The District Court where his case is being handled says Monday he doesn’t yet have a lawyer on record.

An 18-year-old told police that when he realized two men were trying to use counterfeit bills to try to buy his laptop in Orion Township, one of the men pointed a gun at him. Police say Henderson denied a weapon was involved.

Authorities say similar cases may be linked to this one.
