ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A Defense Department official’s tour of a Rochester high school has been cancelled.
Adele Ratcliff, the director of the department’s manufacturing technology program, had planned to tour East High School’s precision optics lab with Congresswoman Louise Slaughter on Monday.
Slaughter’s office says the event has been cancelled because of a scheduling issue.
East High is the only high school in the country with its own precision optics program. The lab prepares students for careers in optics and photonics, which involves the use of light in technology ranging from lasers to telecommunications.
