DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A 45-year-old man has been imprisoned for crashing his truck into a backyard trampoline and killing a 6-year-old boy in Des Moines.
Court records show Guadalupe Villa-Guzman was given five years in prison after pleading guilty March 22 to involuntary manslaughter. Villa-Guzman is accused of driving over a curb and onto a Des Moines lawn June 1 last year, killing Irving Aguilar Gonzalez and injuring a 4-year-old.
Police say Villa-Guzman has a history of seizures and shouldn’t have been driving. It’s unclear whether a seizure contributed to the accident.
He was committed to a mental health institution in September for treatment and ruled competent Jan. 8 for trial.
