ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) - A New Jersey man is accused of fatally stabbing a 30-year-old man outside of a nightclub and kidnapping a woman who was nearby.
Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace Park said Sunday that 23-year-old Saloman Rosendo Gomez-Serpas has been arrested and charged with murder, kidnapping and a weapons offense in the death of Mario Ortiz.
Park says Gomez-Serpas and Ortiz had been arguing in the parking lot of an Elizabeth nightclub around 4 a.m. Saturday when Gomez-Serpas stabbed Ortiz in the chest, ordered a woman who was nearby into a vehicle and took off.
Authorities found Gomez-Serpas and the woman Saturday afternoon in an Elizabeth apartment. The woman wasn’t hurt.
Gomez-Serpas is being held in lieu of $1 million bail. It’s unclear if he has an attorney.
