OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Police say two men and a woman were killed in Oakland in three separate shootings within 24 hours.

Authorities say a man was found shot in the head near the Fruitvale Bay Area Rapid Transit station around 4 a.m. Saturday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say a 30-year-old man was also killed shortly after 12 a.m. Sunday near Kaiser Hospital in Oakland’s Westlake neighborhood. He had multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say 30-year-old Lakeya Venson was shot about an hour later outside a relative’s East Oakland home while helping clean up after a party. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.

There have been 17 homicides in Oakland this year, compared to 24 by this time last year.
