OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon City man says he was testing out his jet ski with his stepson at Willamette Falls when a sea lion tipped the vehicle over.

The Oregonian reports (https://bit.ly/1XqGjgR ) that Bobby Moghadas says he was on the water with his 9-year-old stepson Sunday when he spotted several sea lions gorging on salmon.

Moghadas says he’d never seen the animals on the Willamette and wanted a closer look, so he followed them for about an hour. He says he turned the engine off and was floating just before sunset when the jet ski was tipped over. A fisherman pulled Moghadas and the boy out of the water and told them he saw a sea lion overturn vehicle.

Federal law prohibits harassing sea lions. Moghadas plans to return and doesn’t believe his vehicle will hurt the animals.
