MAHWAH, N.J. (AP) - Officials say a 56-year-old man died while hiking on a northern New Jersey hiking trail over the weekend.

Bergen County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Anthony Cureton says the cause of the Mahwah man’s death is under investigation but isn’t considered suspicious. He says the victim appeared to suffer a medical episode on a steep portion of the Ramapo Valley County Reservation hiking trail Saturday afternoon.

Authorities didn’t immediately identify the man.
