WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) - A Brooklyn man is behind bars after police say he tried to sell an undercover detective hundreds of bags of heroin on Long Island.

Newsday reports (https://nwsdy.li/23o9Mis ) police announced Sunday that 30-year-old Jason Perez was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Officers arranged a meeting with Perez to buy drugs from him in Wantagh and once there police say he tried to sell an undercover detective heroin. Police say he had 390 bags of the drug with him.

Perez has been ordered held on $50,000 bail.

It’s unclear if he has an attorney who could comment on the charges.
