ESSEX, Vt. (AP) - Police say a 22-year-old Vermont man is accused of leading officers on a chase through four Chittenden County towns before he was taken into custody in Milton.

The chase began after Essex police attempted to stop Alexander Seagroves’ Chevrolet Blazer for an alleged speed violation along Susie Wilson Bypass around 10:46 p.m. Saturday.

Police say Seagroves didn’t stop, and instead led a pursuit from Essex through Colchester and Winooski.

The chase ended in Milton when police attempted to use a tire deflation device on Seagroves’ car, but he turned into a parking lot and surrendered.

Essex Lt. Robert Kissinger says Seagroves had a warrant out for his arrest on several charges.

It wasn’t immediately known if Seagroves had a lawyer, and a phone number couldn’t be found for him.
