RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation is marking the 80th year for the state parks system, and offering a shot at prizes to those who join in the celebration.

One of the prizes is a $500 gift certificate for an overnight stay at a Virginia State Park. Other prizes include a pocket knife and a waterproof smartphone case.

Guests earn prizes by logging park experiences on the contest webpage . Prizes begin with a special 80th anniversary acorn stress ball after 10 visits.

At 20 activities the prize is a waterproof smart phone case. The pocket knife is the prize at 30.

Virginia state parks have more than 1,800 campsites and 300 climate-controlled cabins.
