POTTSVILLE, Pa. (AP) - A union representing health care workers says two eastern Pennsylvania hospitals are forming a partnership.
The Service Employees International Union Healthcare Pennsylvania and others said Wednesday that they had received a letter announcing that Schuylkill (SKOO’-kul) Health had signed a definitive agreement with Lehigh Valley Health Network.
The letter was signed by the interim president of Schuylkill Health and given to workers. It says the partnership will lead to expanded health care services.
The chapter president of SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania says workers at Schuylkill Health are excited about the news.
The (Pottsville) Republican-Herald (https://bit.ly/1SbeHeo ) reports officials for the two hospitals declined to comment Wednesday on the internal announcement. But spokesmen for both say a news conference is scheduled for Thursday. No further details were released.
