GRAFTON, Mass. (AP) - A 36-year-old woman was found dead in her Grafton home while her injured husband was found in a separate room with what appeared to be a knife in his neck, authorities said Wednesday.

Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early said Kelly Sugarman was found on a bedroom floor, and her 42-year-old husband, Michael Sugarman, was found in the kitchen.

He was taken to a hospital where he remained late Wednesday. Early’s office couldn’t provide an update on his condition.

Early also declined say how Kelly Sugarman died, pending the results of an autopsy by the medical examiner’s office. But he said murder charges against Michael Sugarman are anticipated.

Police were led to the house after finding the couple’s young daughter walking alone on the side of the road in her pajamas early Wednesday morning, Early said. The girl told officers that “mommy is sick” and “mommy is asleep.”

She was taken to a hospital for an evaluation and is now in state custody.
