RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 36-year-old Nevada man has been sentenced to 10 years to life in state prison and lifetime supervision as a sex offender for lewdness with a 12-year-old girl.

The Washoe County district attorney’s office says Jericho James Brioady of Sparks was sentenced Monday after the girl provided an emotional account in court about the effect the abuse has had on her and her family, friends and schoolwork.

A jury in Reno found Brioady guilty in January after a five-day trial.

District Attorney Chris Hicks noted that Brioady’s sentencing came during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, which Hicks says is set aside to encourage empowering victims and restoring hope.
