LAKE STEVENS, Wash. (AP) - A man who officers say was armed is injured after police shot at him Tuesday night.
The Seattle Times reports (https://bit.ly/1qRrw4Q) it’s unclear whether the man was shot by officers.
A news release from Everett police says a 22-year-old man sustained injuries that aren’t believed to be life threatening. The man underwent surgery at Providence Regional Medical Center and was listed in critical condition Wednesday afternoon.
Police say he refused to drop his firearm and that a Lake Stevens police sergeant with 10 years of experience opened fire after officers tried to negotiate with the man for 45 minutes. The sergeant has been place on administrative leave, which is standard protocol.
A rifle was found at the scene.
The shooting temporarily closed nearby roads Wednesday morning during an investigation.
