KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Tennessee has announced the addition of guard Jordan Bowden, a Knoxville native who will play for his hometown team.

Bowden graduated from Carter High School in nearby Strawberry Plains, Tennessee. He currently attends 22 Feet Academy of Shannon Forest Christian School in Greenville, South Carolina.

Tennessee officials said Wednesday that Bowden is the Volunteers’ first scholarship signee who played for a Knox County high school since Doug Roth in 1985.

Bowden joins a signing class that already included guards Jordan Bone and Kwe (KWAY’) Parker and forwards John Fulkerson, Jalen Johnson and Grant Williams. The other five members of the class were announced during the fall signing period.
